Filling every day with activities for our children and young people can be a tall order so we make it really easy at Stomping Grounds, drop them off with us and we will have them finding magic in our woods. Come rain or shine there is always creativity, laughter, joy and connection in our ancient woodland. Whether you are a dab hand at Forest School or brand new to what the forest has to offer we know there are hundreds of untapped stories yet to be discovered in our majestic spaces.
Our Holiday Clubs are located at our ancient woodland near Prudhoe.
Times: Usually we run 9-3. Check the individual booking links for specifics!
Ages: For children and young people aged 5 to 12 years.
Food: Hot lunch and snacks are included for every child/young person throughout the day.
All of our holiday clubs are delivered by expert forest school or outdoor practitioners in beautiful outdoor spaces across the North East of England. We have high staff ratios of one practitioner to every 6 children. Our Holiday Clubs support children to explore the outdoors, manage their own risks, lead their own discovery and build relationships with their peers whilst making new friends through play and curiosity.
Access to child-led experiences in nature is proven to support good mental health and well-being. Children who attend will take part in a range of outdoor adventures such as fire lighting, whittling, games, crafts, foraging, navigating, swinging in hammocks, relaxing under the fantastic canopy of trees, and so much more.

“Really appreciate the time and effort the team put in to make my child feel at ease and want to attend the sessions. She goes straight to staff without a second thought and even tells me what she’s been up to when we get home! I always feel at ease that she is safe in her care and have no doubt my daughter considers them family.”

1:6. There will always be 1 practitioner for every 6 children at holiday clubs.
No. Many of our term-time practitioners take their holidays during school holidays so you may see new faces in the woods working alongside your child/young person. We have a whole team of holiday workers that appear only in the holidays, bringing with them new activities and exciting ideas.
We recommend chatting to us before booking onto a holiday club, so we can make sure we are meeting your child’s needs and have passed the information onto the holiday practitioners.
In order to access Holiday Clubs, we would need to ensure that they continued to have the same ratios. Please contact us to discuss this.
Usually, we ask the adults to drop off the child/young person, however, every child is unique, and we are happy to discuss a bespoke transition plan with you.
Please call 0191 5402680 or email admin@stomping-grounds.org to discuss

‘He is always the happiest I ever see him after being in forest school and being outdoors with others.’
Parent, Prudhoe summer 23
‘My child was able to make some positive relationships, has learned some games he wants to play with us, really helped us in the early days post-adoption to give his older brother a break!’
Parent, summer 23
‘They don’t realise the benefits of being outdoors and active because of anxiety. We think it has helped them recover from a fall, and keeping active helped with dyspraxia, because if they stopped altogether for 6 weeks they’d be in more danger of further falls.’
Parent, summer 23
‘Jenny loved making a pigeon flute – using the tools and having something to take home.’
Parent, easter 23
