Support your children to develop new skills, make new friends and learn about themselves, the world around them and the people they share it with.
Our Home Education sessions take place at our beautiful Ofsted registered site at Gibside for ages 3 – 5 and at Dukes Hagg wood in Prudhoe for ages 5+.
At gibside, we have a base camp with a shelter and play opportunities, and access to the full Gibside estate for exploration.
At Dukes Hagg, groups have access to a stream, shelter, exploration of an ancient woodland, a compost toilet and our expert practitioners who are approved Therapeutic Forest Practitioners and plan their sessions in collaboration with the groups.
Our sessions are participant led and non accredited, meaning we don’t work to a curriculum. However, we do deliver the Wild Passport, a bushcraft skills development programme, if young people show an interest.
Older young people, aged 12+, may be given an opportunity to join our Young Leaders programme, offering training and volunteering opportunities to work alongside us in the summer holidays. Once young people are 14, they may also be able to do their Level 1 Forest School training with us.
Because we are Ofsted registered, if you are in receipt of Universal Credit you may be able to claim up to 80% of the cost of these sessions back. You can also use Childcare vouchers and tax free child care entitlement.
Under 5s can use 30 hour childcare entitlement to access our Kindergarten provision at Gibside.

“Really appreciate the time and effort the team put in to make my child feel at ease and want to attend the sessions. She goes straight to staff without a second thought. I always feel at ease that she is safe in their care and have no doubt my daughter considers them family.“
