Along the banks of the Tyne, this public space includes a sculpture trail, views over Newcastle, and some beautiful woodland.

About this Location

Accessible by public transport, this space is accessed via Rose Street. The main paths are pushchair friendly but some of the woodland adventure is off piste.

This site is part of the Gateshead Riverside Partnership. We’re delighted to be working with Gateshead Council, developing this space for local community access.

Rose St

To attend forest school sessions at Gateshead Riverside Park, you will be met at the Rose St entrance (NE8 2LS). The site is a 5 minute walk from the entrance.

Parking:

Users of the Riverside park can find ample parking in the local vicinity, around the various entrance points to the park: Autumn Drive, Rose Street, Fletcher Road, and Worsdell Drive.

Please be mindful that many of the roadside parking spaces are regularly used and needed for local residents to park, and our participants should be mindful to leave as much space as possible.

There is free parking down Rose Street, just past the Children’s Centre (turn right after the Centre and there are a small number of off road parking spaces).

Travel by train:

There is a large train station at Newcastle and a large Metro (underground train service) and bus interchange in Gateshead town centre. From here, local bus routes service the area of Team Street and Askew Road West, which are very close to the pedestrian entrance points to the Gateshead Riverside Park.

Travel by bus:

Buses from the Metrocentre going towards the Gateshead Interchange (10, 10A, 10B, X66), stop at the Team Street Gas Works or on Askew Road West, which is a 3-minute walk from the crossroads of Autumn Drive and Rose Street, where you can find the first Rose Street entrance to the park.

Buses from the Gateshead Interchange going towards the Metrocentre (10, 10A, 10B, X66), stop on Askew Road West or at the Team Street Gas Works, which is a 3-minute walk from the crossroads of Autumn Drive and Rose Street, where you can find the first Rose Street entrance to the park.

Facilities:

Wheelchair accessible toilets are available at Big Local Gateshead, close to the Rose St entrance, we will also have access to a small kitchen for some events.
